Less Than A Day Away
70% of America's commerce occurs within a day's drive. Sandusky County is located in the center of the country's manufacturing core. We are the Mid-American crossroads, the center of industrial and economic power of the nation.
 
Get There Today
The Ohio Turnpike (I-80/90 ) plus nearby I-75 and nine other highways, in addition to, sixteen motor carriers and two rail lines serve the county. Access to world markets through the Port of Toledo. Sandusky County Regional Airport and the Fremont Airport provide private or corporate plane and air taxi service. Toledo Airport provides commercial air service.
 
Strong Work Ethic
Our vigorous development atmosphere and the sophistication of skills available in our population are the pride of Sandusky County. We have the labor force and abundant resources to serve our industry and business. This is a mature industrial area with a trained and talented labor pool.
 
Education
The importance of quality education is recognized. Sandusky County has many fine public and parochial schools. Vanguard-Sentinel Career Centers offers general education and career training. Higher education is provided by Terra Community College.
 
Training
The state of Ohio has several financial aid programs to assist industry in retraining, upgrading or developing skills needed for your operation. Vanguard-Sentinel Career Centers, Tech Prep and Terra Community College will conduct training sessions at their schools or inside your facility.
 
Libraries
The county is served by Birchard Library in Fremont, with branches in Gibsonburg and Woodville. Clyde and Bellevue also have libraries. Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center's rich historical collection is enjoyed by our citizens as well as thousands of visitors each year.
 
Health Facilities
Our health needs are well provided for by Memorial Hospital in Fremont. Bellevue Hospital serves the eastern part of the county. Life Flight is available to Toledo hospital facilities. There are several nursing centers. The St. Francis Rehabilitation Centre in Green Springs is highly respected and draws patients from several counties.
 
Police and Fire Protection
Sandusky County is policed by a county sheriff, assisted by a deputized staff. Each municipality within the county maintains its own police force. Fremont and Bellevue have full-time staffs of professional fire fighters. Volunteer departments in the rest of the county are trained through state-sponsored fire-fighting clinics. Mutual-assistance agreements between departments provide additional support if the need arises.
 
Recreation
There are two county parks and many smaller parks in our cities and villages. You can canoe, hike, scuba dive, camp, swim and participate in sports on the many athletic fields available. In just a few minutes you can get away to the Lake Erie Islands and Cedar Point. All kinds of water sports can be enjoyed both on the lake and the Sandusky River. Walleye and white bass fishing, duck and goose hunting, and rod and gun clubs are among activities available. Cross country skiing, sledding hills and skating ponds provide winter-time fun outdoors. Indoor swimming, racquet sports and track are available at the YMCA in Fremont and other municipal facilities throughout the county. The following financial institutions are located in Sandusky County: Citizens Savings Bank, Clyde-Findlay Area Credit Union, Community First Savings and Trust, Croghan Colonial Bank, Fifth Third Bank, Firelands Federal Credit Union, First National Bank, U.S. Bank, Fremont Federal Credit Union, FRESCO Federal Credit Union, Home Savings & Loan, Huntington National Bank, Key Bank, National City Bank, Old Fort Banking Company, and U.S. Bank.
 
Utilities
The following utility companies service Sandusky County: American Electric Power, SBC, Calpine, Columbia Gas of Ohio, Inc., First Energy, and Verizon.
 
Communities
Among the 15 communities nestled within Sandusky County, each one offers something unique to its residents or visitors. Beautiful parks and tree-lined streets, historical fairs and summer festivals, community theaters and visual art shows, preplanned recreational and sporting events, all contribute to make this part of Northwest Ohio a wonderful place to live.
 
Agriculture
Farmers, orchard, and livestock occupy ninety percent of Sandusky County's land. The 920 farms in the county average about 225 acres per farm.

Sandusky County is number three in the state in the production of fruits, vegetables, nursery, and greenhouse.

Fresh market vegetables, orchards, and land set aside for Government programs comprise the remaining acreage.

Additional acreage is used for livestock.
